I'm annoyed by the fact that all the career interest inventories I've participated in the past have failed me, and that no one was in my life that could help me define a clear direction to take. I know this is how it is for almost everyone from my high school, since most were never sure of what they were doing. A lot went undeclared from my year and I doubt it's improved - and I suspect it's even degraded since I was there.
I just wish somehow I had been exposed to all the levels that go into creating software and web apps because then I would have known sooner that there was a high level of thought and design that went into the kinds of projects that interest me. I could have known at a much earlier age the qualifications and experiences I'd need to gain while at university. I'm kind of in the wrong degree program for what I'd like to do ideally - Interaction Design - but I'll make it work somehow.

So the city of Phoenix is number 10 on the list of the 15 largest US cities by how much it recycles. 22% - which is sadly lower than the national average of 32%, but far above Huston's (the 4th largest US city) measly 2.6%. Read more here.
I'm glad we're not in Huston's place - that'd be just too embarrassing.

Oh Phoenix, you never cease to disappoint me. It's not really your fault though, you're in a great state and you do have a lot of potential. Something along the way just went wrong - or actually never went quite right. I expect you to improve, I can see it happening - but I don't feel it happening. And there is my problem with you. Phoenix, you are too boring for me right now because you haven't got it going on. Sometimes I think you do, and that it's something with me. But it actually isn't because I don't think you're right for anyone, no matter what age.

Getting out of town for three days was really refreshing. I wish I had taken more pictures... they'll be up soon.

After a morning of ridiculously slow wifi, I finally got my laptop to work with the wired network. Meaning download speeds of 55 Mbps. Sweet. Onto more reading!

Change will infuse itself into every aspect of my life; I've come to embrace it no matter how uncertain it is.

I've set up ScribeFire to post to my blog and to also be able to upload media directly to my site though FTP. Sweet, I've been looking for an extension that does this for a while.

Maybe I should not have gone to Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and Sunflower in one shopping trip today. I spent almost $100, ridiculous but then again I had to buy some more expensive essentials that I don't buy too often...

Marissa Mayer talks here about some of the ideas that went into the design of the new lowercase Google favicon. Its interesting to see how web design is shifting focus to the mobile platform, something I've expected since my first phone had gross wap internet access in 2003.

Trouble, a Maltese living in New York City, inherited $12 million from her late owner last year. The rest of her $5 to $8 billion is willed out to other dogs.
